Prep 6 Wow Lesson
In Prep 6, the students kicked off their new learning on Letters from the Lighthouse by stepping into the shoes of WWII evacuees. They watched a short documentary about evacuation, then created their own identity cards, ration books, and luggage labels, using replicas from the era. These labels accompanied them on their trip to the Brampton Museum, where they took part in an evacuee experience.
Prep 5 Wow Lesson
Prep 5 dove into the world of Hansel and Gretel, exploring the differences between fairy tales and folktales. They then created their own story dice—featuring magical items, fairy tale settings, and heroes or villains. After rolling the dice with a partner, the children crafted their own oral fairy tales, framing their stories with the traditional “once upon a time” and “they all lived happily ever after.”
Prep 4 Wow Lesson
Meanwhile, Prep 4 embraced their inner Willy Wonka by creating their own chocolates! They experimented with white, milk, and dark chocolate, adding fillings like gummy sweets, marshmallows, sprinkles, and even Rainbow Nerds. The chocolates were poured into moulds and left to cool overnight, ready to enjoy the following day.
The WOW lessons have been a fun and imaginative way for the children to connect with their learning across a range of exciting topics!
