Music

Edenhurst strongly values the importance of Music as a means of promoting personal creativity, expression and enjoyment.

From Reception onwards, pupils at Edenhurst receive weekly class music lessons, taught by our highly qualified and experienced music specialists.

Edenhurst’s music curriculum encompasses the values, philosophy, aims and educational vision of the school, providing a holistic, balanced and creative experience, where each child is given the opportunity to fulfil their musical potential.

Whether learning to play an instrument, performing or developing musical theory skills, every pupil is enriched by Edenhurst’s unique musical experience.

All pupils are actively encouraged to sing. This includes singing in one of the school choirs, in class, school productions, music festivals and in local churches and the community.

Instrumental Lessons

Learning to play an instrument enriches all aspects of a child’s education. It enhances enjoyment and instils personal discipline and achievement. Weekly instrumental lessons are available on a rotational basis. Pupils can begin lessons at any point.

At Edenhurst, we have a team of excellent and highly qualified visiting music teachers, who offer vocal, piano and instrumental lessons.

Instrumental teachers’ timetables are displayed on the school website, Music notice board and in form rooms.

Each year, a large percentage of pupils have instrumental/vocal lessons. Pupils are actively encouraged to prepare for and to take the ABRSM graded exams.  Edenhurst is a recognised exam centre, so pupils can take their exams at school.
