Reception Class Adventures: Visits to Peak Wildlife Park and Amerton Farm

Posted: 20th March 2026

Reception class recently enjoyed two fantastic trips as part of our learning about animals and the natural world.

We visited Peak Wildlife Park and Amerton Farm, with both experiences providing exciting opportunities for exploration and discovery.

During our visit to Peak Wildlife Park, the children were thrilled to encounter a wide variety of animals. From friendly wallabies to hungry polar bears, there was so much to see and learn. A real highlight was walking through the animal enclosures, allowing the children to observe the animals up close in environments designed to reflect their natural habitats.

The children showed great curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and sharing what they already knew. This visit supported our classroom learning, helping the children to better understand how animals live, what they eat, and how they are cared for.

At Amerton Farm, we experienced life on a working farm. We enjoyed meeting a range of farm animals, including goats, sheep, and Highland cows. Feeding the lambs was a particular favourite activity. The visit also included a tractor ride and time in the play areas, where the children enjoyed playing together.

Across both trips, the children demonstrated excellent behaviour and enthusiasm. They represented the school beautifully, showing kindness, respect, and a genuine excitement for learning.

These experiences have greatly enriched the children’s understanding of the world around them and have created many special memories that we will continue to reflect on back in the classroom.
