We’re delighted to welcome Mrs. Sandra Jones to the body of permanent teaching staff here at Edenhurst, having had her as one of our visiting music teachers on not just one but two occasions so far!  She introduces herself below…

I have worked as a professional musician and teacher for over 25 years. Music has been my passion all my life starting at the age of 4 with the recorder and then the clarinet and saxophone at the age of 9 and 11 respectively followed by the piano and
flute a few years later.

Music has played a huge part of my life and has given me so many wonderful experiences and friendships along the way.  I studied my degree at Huddersfield University and after finishing my Post Graduate course at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.  I entered the world of a professional musician having the fantastic opportunity to play with Scottish Opera Orchestra, Scottish Ballet Orchestra and The Royal Scottish Orchestra. I also played for many theatre companies, choral societies, chamber ensembles and Big Bands.

I have been a specialist woodwind teacher for many years teaching in both Primary and High Schools in both the Private and State sector.  I spent 13 years working in Scotland and returned to my home town of Stoke-on-Trent in 2001. It was then that I had the privilege of working at Edenhurst first time around for 2 years after which I was offered a full-time teaching job with Staffordshire County Council.

Throughout my work with Staffordshire I have been the conductor of many ensembles including choirs, orchestras, wind bands, saxophone and clarinet ensembles, jazz bands and individual and small group teaching. I have helped to organise many trips abroad with musicians touring many European countries which have been fantastic experiences for the students.

In the summer of this year I accepted the role of Director of Music at Edenhurst, which I am thoroughly enjoying. It is fantastic to teach in a school where music is very much valued.

Outside of school I love to walk my beloved cocker spaniel. I enjoy weekends away to Barmouth in Wales where the scenery is stunning with beautiful coastlines and the back drop of the Snowdonia mountain ranges. I also love to visit the Lake District.
