On arrival the children enjoyed an ‘Amazing Animals’ workshop where they consolidated their knowledge on animal groups. They handled the taxidermy animals very sensibly before looking at some of the objects that had been confiscated at customs, such as a small cayman crocodile and a large turtle shell. There was then time to explore the natural world, evolution and digestive system exhibits. The children then moved onto the second workshop of the day, where they could use their knowledge about solids, liquids and gases whilst participating in the ‘Materials’ workshop. We finished off the day in the science garden, which the children were delighted to find included a water shooter and a giant hamster wheel. A great day out to round off our year in science in Prep 5.
