Me professionally:

I started my teaching career at age 5 in front of a very cuddly class of teddy bears, but it wasn’t until 2010 that I qualified as a teacher, after a degree in English and Communication & Culture at Keele University. I started teaching at Sir Graham Balfour High School in Stafford, moving on to Head of English at Penkridge Middle School four years later. Both schools offered me great opportunities but I found I really enjoyed helping and supporting the younger children with their journeys in English and was overjoyed to be offered the position of English teacher at Edenhurst! In September 2021 I was promoted to Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Key Stage 2.

Me personally :

When I am not being called Mrs Bennett, I am being called ‘Mummy’ by my two children, 5 and 2. They both attend Edenhurst and keep me busy at the weekends. As a family, we love little adventures: walking, cycling, swimming, exploring, and not forgetting the hot chocolates with marshmallows and cream at the end! I attend Newcastle Baptist Church where, until a few years ago, my husband and I ran the youth work for many years.  I love to read but find these days it tends to be more fairy tales and youth fiction- not that I’m complaining!

Random fact about me:

My biggest claim to fame would have to be currently holding the record (if you can call it that!) for the biggest baby in Stoke-on-Trent since the new maternity building opened over 10 years ago! 12lbs 4oz (5.5kg) was James’ weight, where he became quite an attraction for many of the medical staff!
