Me professionally:

After qualifying as a Medical Biochemist from Surrey University I worked as an analytical scientist at St. George’s Hospital in London, before spending 12 years working in medicinal drug safety and clinical trials in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Whilst employed by GSK I also studied for my Masters degree in Pharmaceutical Medicine. After having children I decided to use my skills and retrain as a secondary school science teacher at Keele Uni. I came to work at Edenhurst nearly 10 years ago and initially used to teach science up to year 8 when the school did common entrance, but now enjoy teaching all of the KS2 science.

Me personally:

I love travelling with my family to explore different cultures and like to try new activities that push me out of my comfort zone. Most weeks I can be found standing on the side of a muddy rugby pitch cheering on one of my 3 sons and every week I like to do a couple of long walks so I don’t get grumpy. Currently one of my sons is trying to teach me how to play the piano, which is painful for both of us, so I must practice more, he tells me!

Random fact about me:

When my twins were babies and my oldest son was in reception at Edenhurst I became the PTA treasurer and used their nap time to study to become a qualified bookkeeper (what was I thinking?!). Before having children I was a reserve British Army Officer in the Medical Corps and also spent my weekends working at Wembley Stadium in the hospital, as a first aider, whilst getting to enjoy the concerts and footie matches. More importantly I will always be a Devon girl at heart and love walking by the seaside, crazy golf and pasties.
