After qualifying with a 1st Class Degree in Illustration from Loughborough University I developed a thirst for learning! This led to a PGCE (Distinction) in Art & Design Secondary from MMU, a Post Grad Dip and MA in Education from Staffs University. It’s probably safe to say that Teaching was an obvious career choice!
I taught in Secondary Schools as Head of Art & Design and as an Art & Design Teacher in Cheshire and Staffordshire with responsibilities for KS4, 5 and ICT in Art, as well as lecturing in Art & Design for Derby University.
I work as an examiner for GCSE and A Level, and was Principal Moderator for the Double A Level Art and Design qualification, where my area of responsibility was Northern Ireland!
I have been at Edenhurst for five years (although it doesn’t feel that long as I have had two babies in that time!) and have enjoyed every minute!
I love spending time with my family – I am married and have a three year old daughter and one year old son! We can often be found enjoying the great outdoors!
I love travel and travelled for a year across five continents, this also included working in Australia. It was a truly amazing experience and one I will never forget. My sketchbook travelled with me around the world! On my travels I was fortunate enough to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and visit the Uros Indians on Lake Titicaca in Peru. I visited the Hill Tribes people in Thailand and the children in their local primary school. This was just a few of the amazing experiences.
I often weave memories of my travels into my teaching, sharing my encounters and knowledge of Arts and Crafts from various cultures with the pupils that I teach.
