Key findings from our Early Years ISI Inspection, December 2013:

  • Leadership and management of the EYFS are outstanding
     
  • The overall quality and standards of the EYFS are outstanding
     
  • Provision for children’s well-being is outstanding. Warm, affectionate relationships between adults and children actively support children’s personal and social development
     
  • Children under the age of three make excellent progress for their age in personal, social and emotional development, and in communication and language skills, due to the close bond formed with key adults
     
  • Children make excellent progress in relation to their ability and needs
     
  • Older children demonstrate excellent mathematical awareness
     
  • Staff work in close partnership with parents to identify children’s interests. As a result, children enjoy their learning and make excellent progress
     
  • Bright, stimulating environments provide varied and imaginative resources that encourage play and exploration
     
  • The curriculum is broad and balanced, with specialist teaching for all children in music and movement, and PE and French for children over the age of three
     
  • In Reception, children greatly enjoy “Forest Fridays”, enabling them to explore the world around them
     
  • Imaginative music and movement activities and challenging outdoor equipment underpin rapid development of gross and fine motor skills
     
  • Adults motivate and enthuse children, making good use of opening questioning to encourage critical thinking and language development, particularly for those requiring additional support
