Prep 4 visited Sherwood Forest to walk in the shoes of Robin Hood. They explored the woodland and Forest boundaries, as well as the King’s laws and punishments for outlaws. They visited the Major Oak (Robin’s notorious hiding place) as well as identifying landmarks on popular Ancient Oaks, which were used for secret meetings by the Merry Men. The pupils looked at some coins from the time of the Magna Carta, with the image of King John on, and explored the legend of Robin Hood and his real identity. Pupils also took part in an archery competition – playing in teams for points, aiming at difficult targets in the woods!
