Château Adventures: An Unforgettable French Trip

Posted: 22nd May 2025

It was still dark at Edenhurst when we set off very early back in April for a return visit to the beautiful Chateau du Broutel in the Somme region of Northern France. After a successful trip in 2024, we were thrilled to be going back and it did not disappoint.

Our days were jam-packed with regional visits to artisanal producers of dairy products, chocolate and the famous snails Chez Antoine. This year we also planned a day to Disneyland Paris where we explored both the Universal Studios site and the Disneyland park. It was a tremendous day making memories for the children to last forever.

Our final day saw us return to the infamous Bruno and his boulangerie in the heart of rural Normandy. His fearsome stick was still there but he kept the children enthralled with his croissant-making and once again, left lasting impressions on us all.

We are always made to feel as if it is a home away from home at the Chateau; children enjoy the vast outdoor spaces to let off steam in the evening and freshly prepared homely foods at mealtimes. We are spoiled by the wonderful staff and management there.

The trip offers children a unique opportunity to take a trip abroad without their families yet still supported in a safety net of friends, teachers and Chateau experience. Children learn key life skills of resilience, curiosity, courage and risk-taking that cannot be taught in a classroom.

We cannot wait to return in Spring 2027 to make more lasting memories.
