Christmas in Nursery

Posted: 15th December 2020

As this has been a very strange year, Christmas has been a bit different, but we have taken this opportunity to start celebrating earlier than usual in Nursery to spread some Christmas spirit.

Every Friday has been Festive Friday where the children and staff have been invited to dress in Christmas clothes and take part in Christmas activities. We have created lots of things with glitter and decorated lots of Christmas trees!

The Early Learners have taken part in a fantastic Nativity play with Reception which unfortunately could not have an audience but was recorded so parents can watch over and over again. The children sang songs about the story of Jesus. Grace R and Harry were a fabulous Mary and Joseph and every child had their own part including stars, shepherds, innkeepers, wise people and page boys.

We have had two Christmas lunches, one for Early Learners in School cooked by Melissa and Mandy and one for the rest of Nursery cooked by Michelle.

Thanks to Santa (and the EPTA!) we will be introducing a new tradition to the children this year known as Jolabokaflod. This Icelandic tradition can be translated as Christmas Book Flood in which the children will receive a book to open on Christmas Eve. We hope that they will be able to curl up with a hot chocolate and read with parents, grandparents, siblings or whoever they live with and take a photo to show them taking part in this tradition.
