It truly has been an amazing 11 months, well actually, amazing 7 months and 4 unorthodox months but even in these unprecedented times I have thoroughly enjoyed this academic year. From teaching in the classroom to teaching at home each day has been a learning curve.
My class, Prep 3, has been an absolute pleasure to teach (most of the time). Each and every child has worked incredibly hard and I am very proud of how far they have come and hope they are also very proud of themselves as well.
In all honesty, the workload has been heavy; from planning lessons, marking work, university assignments and everything in between. I was very relieved to have finally completed it all. Some of you might have seen a Twitter kindly posted by Mrs Bennett on the Prep 3 account of me celebrating finishing my course by being fast asleep on the sofa before 7 o’clock. Many thanks to my lovely husband for sending that picture to Mrs Bennett. I thought he was on my side! I joke about Mrs Bennett but she truly is a brilliant teacher, mentor and friend. I am eternally grateful for her help and support. Helping to develop the children over this past year has been the most rewarding experience of my life so far and has convinced me that becoming a teacher is the best decision I have ever made. This is my first year teaching, only another 43 years to go until retirement.
I couldn’t finish without also thanking Mr Barber for pushing me to become a teacher and Mr Hibbert for having faith in me and giving me the opportunity to teach at this wonderful school. Come to think of it, I need to thank every teacher, support staff member and even Mr Box! Everyone has been so supportive and encouraged me throughout.
I am honoured to be teaching the children at Edenhurst and am very much looking forward to the new academic year.
I hope you all have a lovely summer.
See you all very soon.
