We are delighted to announce that Edenhurst has achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2018-19 academic year!

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

At Edenhurst, we place a strong emphasis on health and fitness outside the classroom. We believe that the opportunity to take part in a variety of sporting activities should be offered to all children, in the hope that each child may find at least one activity to enjoy.

We believe that healthy competition is character building, and teams of different ages enjoy fixtures against other independent schools in range of sports including athletics, cross-country, football, rugby, hockey and netball. Ball skills and co-ordination are developed from an early age, and later on opportunities arise to represent the school in team matches.

Sport is taught by specialially trained teaching staff and qualified coaches, and our children enjoy state-of-the-art facilities, including our own AstroTurf pitch. Our P.E. lessons extend beyond the walls of Edenhurst, utilising many local facilities to access many different sports.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. We look forward to applying once again in 2020!
