Here we meet our new Prep 4 teacher, Miss Hannah Knight, and find out more ahead of her joining the staff from September.
What attracted you to the role at Edenhurst?
I spent some of my placement time at Edenhurst, when I got to witness the difference between State schools and Preparatory schools. I thoroughly enjoyed every second here. The staff were extremely welcoming and the children were lovely. I have also now worked in Edventures and feel that I have already built relationships with the children. All of this has quickly made me feel that I had a bond with the school. When the Head called me for interview and I was successful, I was over the moon and somehow I just knew it was meant to be! I can’t wait to start working in Prep 4 in September.
What’s the best thing about being a teacher?
There are so many high points in one day in the classroom that I couldn’t possibly describe them all, but what I like most are: the children’s humour; the feeling of anticipation watching children’s progress and seeing them grow in their understanding; building relationships with children; and finally being the best role model I can possibly be for them. What is there not to like? It is such a rewarding job: who wouldn’t want such a career?!
What are you most looking forward to about joining Edenhurst?
During my training I have been in charge of two classes in two different schools so I can’t wait to have my own class at Edenhurst and I am looking forward to watching the children grow. I also am very excited to be working alongside such a supportive team of staff: they have already been so helpful. I look forward to using the resources and the Edenhurst methods to ensure I get the best possible outcome for each individual child.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like to dance and have done so nearly all of my life! I like to think of myself as a confident and creative person and enjoy drama, so I look forward to bringing this to Edenhurst as well.
An interesting fact about you…
Whilst teaching English in Thailand, I swam with elephants: it was sensational and truly a memory I will never forget!
