On Monday 20th April, pupils in Prep 3 – 6 were treated to a wonderful artist portrait workshop, led by Contemporary artist ‘Peter Davis’. We were thrilled to have Peter in to visit our school. The children were incredibly excited and enthusiastic throughout the experience.
Peter shared some of his own portrait pieces, and explained his approach to painting a portrait. The pupils had to develop an under drawing and then explored colour mixing and learned to apply the paint in a series of layers, to build depth and tone. During the latter part of the workshop, pupils were encouraged to look closely for finer details. Peter was impressed by the children’s enthusiasm, prior knowledge and fearless approach to painting, demonstrating a great ability to take risks with the medium.
The pupil’s created some fantastic portraits!
