Introduced into Year 6 as part of the Enrichment Programme, Latin is studied to give pupils more information about the root of a large portion of the English language. As such, studying Latin can help children to better understand English grammar and word structure, and as a result can extend their vocabulary.

Aside from English, Latin has influenced the development of many other languages, such as French, Spanish and Italian, and the children enjoy the historical element as they learn about the Ancient Romans. This cross-curricular learning adds depth and richness to the children’s education, fostering creative thinking and a thirst for knowledge.
