Geography

Geography teaches an understanding of places and environments. Through their work in Geography children learn about their local area, comparing their lives with people in other regions of the United Kingdom, as well as the rest of the world.

In Reception, Geography is related to the Early Learning Goals which develop children's knowledge and understanding of the world. In Form 1 and Form 2 the schemes of work build upon and extend geographical knowledge and skills. In the Prep Forms, the National Curriculum Programmes of Study form the basis for the geography syllabus, which is taught as a separate subject.

Throughout the School we focus on the acquisition of geographical skills, data handling and analysis, and problem solving.  Children are given the opportunity to use a variety of data, such as maps, aerial photographs, graphs, statistics and pictures, and ICT is used where appropriate to enhance learning.
