Drama plays an important role at Edenhurst, as it helps to boost confidence, encourages teamwork, and can even help with overcoming speech problems.
Our Infant classes works toward and perform a play each year, while in the Prep Forms there is a three-pronged approach. Prep 3 take the lead roles in the Nativity during our Carol Service; Prep 4 perform a 'Play In A Day' during the Hilary Term; whilst Prep 5 and Prep 6 take the leading roles in our School Play.
Working closely with the Music Department, the School Play is an exciting and fitting finale to the School year and is performed at the Mitchell Memorial Theatre in Hanley. Recent productions have included ‘Annie’, ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘The Railway Children’. In 2015 we put on a performance of 'Pirates of the Curry Bean', rated by Musicline as 'certainly the finest performance of this production' that they have seen! Our older children are eagerly awaiting news of what they will be performing this year...
Mrs. Jones offer individual and group Speech and Drama lessons, leading to a formal qualification with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). Edenhurst is a centre for LAMDA examinations and these are held several times during the school year.
