After leaving school I immediately began work at Rists Wires and Cables and remained there for 17 years and worked my way up to be a Team Leader. Within this time I met my future husband and in 1994 we were asked to support the opening of a new factory in Sunderland in the North East for two weeks. Eight years, two daughters later we finally came back home to Newcastle U Lyme after I was made redundant. I began to volunteer at my eldest daughter’s school and immediately felt a passion for watching and supporting children while learning. I enrolled in Newcastle U Lyme college and completed my NVQ Level 2&3 and was extremely lucky to be offered a position at my daughter’s primary school. I originally began in the Nursery for 7 years and then moved to reception for 2 Years and then 8 Years in Year 1. During this time I studied for 3 Years for my Foundation Degree in Early Years and Childhood Education and graduated in 2010. My qualification gave me the opportunity to become a Higher Level Teaching Assistant where I gained lots of experience working alongside a group of amazing teaching professionals. Through this role I supported and taught throughout the school from nursery to Year 6. After 18 years at my local school I finally took the plunge and made the move to Edenhurst where I hope I have many happy years ahead of me.
