|It’s a cliched thing to say, but I became a teacher because I wanted to ‘make a difference’ and help people. At the age of 35 I left my career in sport aviation and retrained as a teacher. After 16 years in the profession I firmly believe that children, like all of us, learn best when responding to their natural curiosity. It’s the job of the teacher therefore to provide opportunities that stimulate this curiosity. The excitement and joy that these little individuals see in the world is refreshing and sharing this with them is a privilege.|
My wife and I have two daughters, both of whom have grown up into beautiful, young ladies who we’re unashamedly proud of!
I enjoy cycling and competed in a number of road races many years ago. This interest was rekindled recently when Mr Hibbert convinced me to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats (it was his idea, despite what he might say!).
I also dabble in sailing, oil painting, pottery and gardening, although there never seems to be enough time for any of these, as for the past four years I’ve been renovating our house which was verging on being derelict when we bought it!
Random fact about me:
|During the early 90’s I was a member of the British Hang Gliding team. During one competition in the South of France I abandoned all of my equipment, leaving it in the hands of a friend, and hitch hiked across France and England, as a girl from Preston had agreed to go out with me. We’ve been together ever since!|
