On Monday a squad of 9 swimmers from Prep. 5 and 6 took part in the Newcastle Schools' Gala and returned with a clutch of medals and a trophy.

A team of Prep 5 and 6 girls travelled to Denstone Prep. School at Smallwood Manor for the first rounders match of the season.
Every year we set the challenge to complete a range of Eco activities at home and at school. Eco activities do not need to be expensive or time consuming.
In July 2015 we were offered a rather large plot at Lyme Valley allotments. We jumped at the chance and immediately took on the challenge (and what a challenge it has been!).

As part of our Science studies, Form One has been finding out about how animals can be classified into groups. To learn more in a practical environment, the children travelled to Chester Zoo on a bright (well, brightish!) April morning.

As part of our healthy eating topic we have been looking at the book Oliver’s Fruit Salad. We read the story and all completed a picture on Purple Mash to make and label a fruit salad.
As mentioned in a previous newsletter, Prep 6 finished their 11+ preparation and launched straight into two competitions - the BBC’s 500 Words, and the Independent Schools Association’s annual essay writing competition.
In our Enrichment lessons, Prep 5 have been working in pairs to create a Google slideshow all about volcanoes.
Just before half term, Prep. 4 had a drama activity day where their task was to learn and perform a play which they would then perform for parents at 3.30pm.
Prep 3 have been enjoying their History topic about Ancient Greece. More than once, they have asked the question ‘How do we know about that, if it happened thousands of years ago?’
Here at Edenhurst Nursery, a love of reading is fostered from a young age. Simple board books and ‘feely books’ are favourites in the Baby and Toddler Rooms for the children to learn how to turn the pages and look at colourful pictures.
