Former Stoke City FC footballer Ricardo Fuller has officially opened our new AstroTurf pitch!

Mr Fuller cut the ribbon during a special opening ceremony held at the School last week [Friday, October 14th], in front of staff, pupils, parents and VIP guests.

The new AstroTurf has converted the former tarmac tennis courts into a multi-use games area suitable for football, hockey, netball and tennis.

Nick Copestick, Headmaster at Edenhurst Preparatory School, said: “The new AstroTurf pitch has only been operational for a short time, but it has already made a real difference to the quality of the Sports experience we are able to provide for all our children.

He added: “As well as receiving expert specialist coaching, our children can now play their matches and train on this truly outstanding new facility.”

The School’s Head of Boys Games, Adam Beasley, is a former professional footballer and Head of the Midlands Independent Schools FA Under 14s. Mr Beasley said: “At Edenhurst we are very proud of our reputation as a leading school for sport, with recent successes including becoming ISA Midlands Netball and Tag Rugby Champions in 2016.”

He added: “The investment in the new AstroTurf pitch will only serve to enhance the level of teaching we provide and give our children even more opportunity to exceed their potential.”

The AstroTurf project was fully undertaken by synthetic surfacing specialists, Bradleys Surfacing Systems.

Tom Bradley, Director of Bradleys Surfacing Systems, said: “We were delighted to be approached by Edenhurst to upgrade the facilities at the school. We chose Playrite’s MatchPlay2 as the surfacing for the multi-use games area due to its quality, durability and low maintenance requirements, which makes it an ideal option for a school that needs to host a number of different sports. We look forward to seeing the impact that the new facilities has on the children’s sporting experiences”.
