Virtual Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in Edenhurst Preparatory School.  Whilst the world may have temporarily stopped, planning for your child's education and development should not, and we are delighted to welcome you virtually to our school.

Following the UK Government announcement to close schools on 23 March, we are unfortunately not able to welcome prospective families to the school.  However, during the school closure period, we have ensured a virtual admissions process is in place to provide families who are considering Edenhurst School with the information they need.

We hope that our website, videos, photos and prospectus give you a flavour of what Edenhurst has to offer.  We would also encourage you to follow our Facebook and Twitter pages as well as our YouTube channel, as these excellent ways of getting a feel for our school during this period.

Our virtual admissions process is outlined below. In the first instance, we would invite you to get in touch with our Admissions Officer, Mrs Clair Wardle, or by completing our online form.

We will be delighted to welcome you to the school as soon as we possibly can, but for now - we look forward to meeting you virtually and learning more about your child.

The Virtual Admissions Process

Interested families can make an enquiry by directly emailing our Admissions Officer, Clair Wardle, or by completing our online form.

You may wish to visit our Staff Page to learn more about our friendly office team and year group teachers.

Parents wishing to register their interest in the School should complete the School Registration Form and return it with a non-refundable fee of £75.

For children already in the Edenhurst Nursery, there is no registration fee at this stage but parents are required to complete a Home-School Agreement Form and pay a £150 refundable deposit to confirm their child's place in our Reception class

Admissions criteria

Admission into Edenhurst School is academically non-selective, but is subject to the prospective pupil meeting the criteria required to maintain the ethos of the school.

A child with a place in Edenhurst’s Nursery is guaranteed entry into Reception, whereas entry into other year groups is dependent on places being available.  Other than children entering Reception from Nursery, prospective pupils will be assessed according to academic ability and other strengths. A member of staff at school carries out assessment, appropriate for the age of the child, during a school day.

The normal year of entry is Reception, after the child’s fourth birthday.

Entry is recommended at the beginning of a school term, but other times of entry are possible depending on circumstances.

The Headteacher and Admissions Officer administer admission into the Preparatory School. The Nursery Manager and Admissions Officer control admission into Edenhurst Nursery for children aged three months to four years.

Offer of a Place

A place at the school may be offered following a virtual meeting with the Headteacher.

Acceptance of a Place

Once the Head has offered a place, parents are required to complete the Home-School Agreement & Terms & Conditions Form.  We also require a deposit of £150, which will be refunded when the child leaves Edenhurst, subject to any outstanding amounts.

Waiting List

If a place in the appropriate year group is not available, the Head may offer a place on the Waiting List. Parents would then be informed at the earliest opportunity when a vacancy occurs

Withdrawal of Offer of a Place

The school reserves the right to withdraw the offer of a place subsequent to the receipt of an Acceptance Form, in which case the Registration Fee would be refunded
