Trips and Visits

At Edenhurst, we firmly believe that education extends beyond the classroom. A programme of outings for each class provides experiences to enhance and enrich the children's learning. Furthermore, this encourages the children to interact socially and co-operatively with each other in an environment outside of school. This factor in itself is of great benefit.

The variety and range of visits include museums and galleries, theatres, outdoor and field study centres and farms and zoos.

Regular visits are made to the following destinations:

  • Newcastle-under-Lyme Museum
  • Gladstone Pottery Museum
  • Amerton Farm
  • Pizza Express (Stafford)
  • Shugborough Hall
  • New Victoria Theatre

  • Condover Hall (Prep 6 teambuilding residential)
  • The Manchester Museum of Modern Arts
  • Chester Zoo
  • Chester Deva Museum
  • Wonderland-Telford
  • Lichfield Cathedral
  • Think Tank-Birmingham
  • The Tate Liverpool
  • The Lowry Museum

Each year, we run a Ski Trip to Le Corbier, France, in conjunction with two other prep schools.  This proves consistently popular and is open to any children from Prep 3 to Prep 6 who have some skiing experience.  The trip takes places during the school term, around the last week of February.

We run biennial overseas residentials for the older children.  Our longest-standing is that to the Chateau de la Baudonniere in Normandy.  This provides a week of complete immersion in a French language environment and is consistently rated as being a favourite memory by our leavers.  The week involves a range of outdoor activities on the site (with all instruction in French); visits to local towns and to the D-Day Landing Beaches; the Bayeux Tapestry; and an unwholesome amount of wonderful food!  The trip is open to all children in Prep 5 and Prep 6, and runs at the beginning of the Summer Term.

In the year that the French trip does not run, we take the Prep 6 children to Barcelona for a week of experiencing Spanish culture.  This is a different type of excursion: we visit contemporary locations such as Camp Nou (home of FC Barcelona) and more historic ones such as the Catedral de la Sagrada Familia (Gaudi's still unfinished masterpiece of a cathedral).  The children take an audio tour on the bus going around the city - and enjoy walking and shopping on Las Ramblas as well!
