Welcome to the new School Year!

It’s been a pleasure to see how well all the children have settled back into school life and we extend a particularly warm welcome to all our many new starters and their families throughout the school. I know all the form and subject teachers are looking forward to meeting their children’s parents at our Parents’ Evenings in October.

Our new staff have slotted into the Edenhurst family really well and have worked hard to get to know the children and all our routines. Mrs Sarah Greig has taken over Prep 3 - the classroom is buzzing - and is doing some girls’ sports; Mrs Sandra Jones has moved smoothly into the role of Music Director and is already enthusing the children; Mrs Hannah Twigge is still on maternity leave but we are pleased to have Mrs Julie Evans as cover until the end of this term - there is some great work going on in the Art room.

We are also pleased to welcome two new visiting music teachers: Mrs Janet Perkin for strings and singing; and Mr Tony Thorley returning to teach piano.

It was lovely to see last year’s leavers at our Speech Day and Prizegiving, looking so smart in all their new uniforms. I was very proud of the current Prep 6, who delivered their speeches with confidence and poise. These new young leaders have taken to their new positions of responsibilities like ducks to water, especially the ‘buddying’ of Reception children.

We’ve been delighted to see the children making good use of our new playground ‘Pirate Ship’. We are very grateful to the EFA team for all the super fund raising events over the last two years which have enabled this addition to the facilities for the children. I know that Mrs Sally Sturge and her team have more great events planned for us throughout the academic year: if any parents are interested in joining the EFA Committee, please let the Office know or come along to the AGM on October 13th!

Very best wishes to all for the school year 2017-18.
