Another half term has passed in the usual busy and productive fashion of Edenhurst, with many events and achievements to celebrate. Of course, the biggest news this month has been the receipt of the full ISI Inspection report.

Edenhurst was visited in the last week of last term, as part of the current cycle of inspections, combining a ‘Compliance’ check, an EYFS inspection (Nursery) and an Educational Quality inspection (School).

Over three days, there were 6 inspectors in total, two of whom were experts in the area of Compliance (to the Independent Schools Regulations). Two others are current Heads while one other was a specialist EYFS practitioner. The Reporting Inspector is a retired Head with many years’ experience in leading inspections. All of the inspectors said that if they lived in this area, they would send their children to Edenhurst!

Naturally I am absolutely delighted with the outcomes and offer my congratulations and thanks to all staff in school and nursery who are working so hard to maintain the very highest standards at Edenhurst. It is the children who benefit from the NURTURING environment and the INSPIRING teaching, ACHIEVING excellent results in and out of the classroom.

Key findings of the Educational Quality report summarise that:

  • The quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements is EXCELLENT*

  • The quality of the pupils’ personal development is EXCELLENT

The report notes that pupils “make excellent progress as they move through the school”, “feel valued, safe, well supported and happy within the school community”, and “are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their education.”

It also makes reference to pupils’ “exceptional skills for the use of modern technology”, “exceptional achievements in scholarships, sports, the performing arts and particularly music”, and praises their “mature and wholly positive attitude to their learning.”

The EYFS Quality and Standards report states that:

  • The overall effectiveness of the early years provision is OUTSTANDING*

  • The effectiveness of leadership and management is OUTSTANDING

  • The quality of teaching learning and assessment is OUTSTANDING

  • The personal development, behaviour and welfare of the children is OUTSTANDING

  • The outcomes for children are OUTSTANDING

* ‘Excellent’, in school and ‘Outstanding’ in nursery are the highest grades possible.
