A Busy Half Term In Reception!

Our new Reception children have had a very busy half term.

We voted to choose our favourite nursery rhyme, which was Incy Wincy, and then sequenced the story and made a class dance about it.

For our first topic “Ourselves”, we looked at, and drew our faces and made plate faces. We even got to decorate a cake like our face and took it home to eat!

After our visit to the theatre to see Stick Man some of us completed a home Stick Man challenge: we collected sticks from the school garden and made stick men for our lovely display.

In Maths we have been measuring our height and completing number activities both outside and in the classroom.

For our second topic, “Autumn”, we have read the book ‘Oliver’s Wood’ and completed some writing about our favourite nocturnal animal. We are building a hedgehog nest in the garden, where we have had great fun planting garlic and onions and collecting lavender.

We were so excited to be the first class to use the new astro turf!
