The
school's annual productions give large numbers of children the opportunity
to gain experience on stage. These begin at Nursery and Infant level, with
annual musical dramas for parents.
Older children perform in plays or take part in musical productions in conjunction
with the music department. These performances take place on the school stage,
or at venues such as The Mitchell Memorial Theatre in Hanley. Recent productions
have included 'Fiddler on the Roof', 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Brilliant
the Dinosaur'.
As a timetabled
lesson in Key Stage 2, drama provides an ideal medium for children to gain
self-confidence and to express themselves clearly in well-spoken English.
Private lessons, for which an extra charge is made, are optional for those
wishing to study for examinations in Speech and Drama.
