Spanish at Edenhurst

Spanish is the third most widely used language in the world. As well as in mainland Spain and its islands, it is spoken in most countries in South America and some states in North America.

Our aims in teaching Spanish are that all children will become increasingly familiar with the sounds, written form and grammar of Spanish, develop general language-learning skills and increase their cultural awareness of Spain and Spanish speaking countries.

All pupils in Common Entrance have Spanish tuition once a week for two years from a language specialist. Spanish is also available to all pupils as an ‘Activity’ option, where language and culture are explored informally through the use of games, songs, quizzes, ICT and the use of the many exciting Primary language learning websites.
