Edenhurst has been much more than just a school to us all. We have loved the music, drama and sports and really feel both our boys have been given lots of great opportunities.

Music plays a vital part life at Edenhurst. The department is vibrant and busy throughout the year. Children participate with great enthusiasm and enjoyment in a range of concerts and performances on the ‘big stage’ at local venues such The Victoria Hall, Potteries Musuem and the local parish church of St Giles. Children also take part in local music festivals and others as far away as Alderley Edge and Buxton, Derbyshire.

Under the leadership of the Head of Music, the School engages a staff of peripatetic music teachers who offer a wide range of instruments. Children can learn the recorder from Year 2 onwards. In this way approximately one third of pupils are encouraged to study other instruments, by taking advantage of the individual tuition available from the visiting teachers on a private basis during school hours.

The School is an exam centre for the A.B.R.S.M. music examinations and pupils can sit exams up to three times a year.

The P.T.A. Committee operates a Musical Instrument Library for children who wish to initially try a particular instrument. (See the P.T.A. section for further details).

The school offers an excellent range of musical activities for the children including two orchestras, two choirs, two recorder ensembles, a string ensemble, a swing band, a flute choir and a woodwind ensemble. Advanced musicians are catered for in the Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Choir.
