As soon as the new school term arrived, so did our new school Minibus, partially funded by the £7,000 raised in 2011 from PTA events. Many thanks! The ‘bus has been quickly put into use for ferrying sports teams to fixtures, swimmers to the pool, etc. Very soon now we will be considering a second morning and afternoon pick-up route. Full details will follow soon!
On the subject of parental opinion, we are giving parents a chance to let us know what they think about various aspects of the school. If you are a parent reading this and you haven’t yet taken part in the survey, please click on the link here.
In 1900, an American civil engineer called John Elfreth Watkins made a number of predictions about what the world would be like in 2000. Here are some of his incredible ideas:
• Digital Colour Photography
• TV technology
• High Speed Trains
• Mobile Phones
• Hothouse Vegetables.
I have challenged the children to think of their own predictions of what life will be like in 2061, 50 years from now and 100 years after the foundation of Edenhurst! Those of us who were around in 1961 will know how much things have changed in the past 50 years – Mr. Turner and I told the children in one Assembly about the improvements in travel, communications, medicine and the like, using our own personal observations. It will be fascinating to see what their thoughts are and I will judge the results at half term, giving prizes to the best presentations.
