On Wednesday 11th January, the whole school enjoyed a visit from the Welsh Birds of Prey Centre.
You can watch a wonderful video of a pupil holding a large Eurasian Eagle Owl here.
As the children quietly entered the hall, they were greeted by a selection of different sized falcons, hawks and owls. The children listened intently as they found out about the birds’ feeding habits, where they lived and how they liked to hunt. This was a good link into the science work that the children have been doing on habitats, animal adaptations and food chains.
The highlight of the show was when 2 children from each year group got to hold the large Eurasian Eagle Owl. The children were very brave to hold the bird known as ‘the Silent Hunter’, especially the children from Reception, since the bird was nearly as big as them!
