Edenhurst has been much more than just a school to us all. We have loved the music, drama and sports and really feel both our boys have been given lots of great opportunities.
Many congratulations to all of the children who took part in the Newcastle Music Festival on the 19th and 20th March!
I am delighted to report that The Senior Choir won their class. They were competing against seven other choirs and sang 'Roller Ghoster' (the class test piece) and 'Castle on a Cloud' from Les Miserables.
The Chamber Choir also won their class (15 years and under) and sang 'One Minute Madrigal' and 'Adiemus' by Karl Jenkins fantastically well. We are all so proud of both choirs. Well done!
The Recorder Ensemble also celebrated a win in the 12 years and under Recorder Ensemble Class playing 'When the Saint's Go Marching In' and and unaccompanied piece called 'Alemande.' Very well done to all who took part.
There were also many individual successes. Thomas Beardmore was placed second in the Twelve years and under Instrumental Class while Dominic Cook was placed second in the Fifteen years and under Instrumental Class.
Alice Copestick won the Twelve years and Under Instrumental Class: both Alice and Thomas were competing against twenty five other young musicians. Alice also went on to win the 'Musicals' Singing class for children Ten years and under, coming second in the Singing class for Twelve years and under. She was then part of a string group (with sister Charlotte, brother Richard, Maria and Isobelle West) which won the Open Instrumental Ensemble class, under 19.
Harry Fradley came first in the Under Fifteen Singing class - truly excellent for his age! A mention too for George Wilcock coming a creditable third in the Twelve years and under singing class with an excellent performance of 'Cockles and Mussels'.
Well done again to everyone who took part.
