Assessment

Assessment of children's abilities and understanding plays a crucial part in education. At Edenhurst we utilise a range of methods with which to assess your child:

• The daily interaction between staff and the children as they work and play provides vital information from which staff may build a picture of their academic and social needs.

• Marking of work highlights strengths and weaknesses in children's learning.

• Formal School tests in November and full examinations in June each year indicate how well a child can learn and recall in a test situation.

• Various standardised tests provide valuable information as to how children are performing compared to others of the same age nationally.

The sum of the data gathered then enables staff to plan work which is targeted directly to areas which will help your child to progress and develop effectively.

Learning Support

Some children require individual or specialised help in order to help them learn more effectively whilst others need more demanding work so as to cater for a higher level of ability. We provide tailored programmmes to cater for these two groups.
