Art & DesignTags: In Art and Design the children look at different Artists as a starting point to develop a range of work using a variety of media. In 2008, the School was awarded ARTSMARK status, a National Award from the Arts Council of Great Britain, in recognition of our commitment to the Arts. Workshops and visits to exhibitions enhance the teaching of Art and Design. Outings include The Tate in Liverpool, The Lowry in Manchester and Salt's Mill in Bradford to view the David Hockney Exhibition. Children enjoy making pottery at the local Gladstone Pottery Museum in Stoke. A highlight of the School Year is Arts Week during which numerous specialists come into School to run workshops in dance, textiles, paper making, felt work, collage and pottery amongst others. In this way, breadth in the Art and Design curriculum is achieved. |
